Department of Defense Gulf War Illness Research Program (GWIRP)
Funding Opportunities for Fiscal Year 2008 (FY08)

The FY08 Defense Appropriations Act provides $10 million for the Department of Defense Gulf War Illness Research Program. The Gulf War Illness Research Program (GWIRP) was established in fiscal year 1994 (FY94) to study the health effects of war-fighters deployed in the 1991 Persian Gulf War. The GWIRP challenges the scientific community to design innovative research that will improve the health and lives of veterans who have Gulf War Illness (GWI). This program is administered by the US Army Medical Research and Materiel Command through the Office of the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP). FY08 GWIRP Program Announcements for proposals in the following mechanisms are anticipated to be posted on Grants.gov by 7 May 2008.
