Department of Defense Breast Cancer Research Program Announces Fiscal Year 2006 Innovator Award Funding Opportunity
Due to the success of prior years' Innovator Awards, the Department of Defense (DOD) Breast Cancer Research Program (BCRP) expects to announce a $22 million initiative to support Fiscal Year 2006 Innovator Awards. Applicants must be nominated to be considered for this award; however, self-nominations will be accepted. Nominations will be screened to determine which nominees meet the intent of the award and selected nominees will be invited to prepare a complete proposal.
The Innovator Award seeks to identify and fund uniquely gifted individuals who have a history of visionary scholarship, leadership, and creativity. Because we recognize that critical insights may come from leaders with an outside perspective, we encourage nominations from leaders from all fields, not just the sciences traditionally involved in breast cancer. Funding for Innovator Awards can be requested for a maximum of $5 million in direct costs for up to a 5-year performance period.
A detailed description of this mechanism, including evaluation criteria and specific submission requirements and deadlines will be available in the program announcement to be released in early September. Nominations will be due in mid October.
Requests for e-mail notification when Program Announcements are released may be sent to prequest@constellagroup.com. For more information about the BCRP, BCRP awardees, previous BCRP Program Announcements, and other CDMRP programs, please visit the CDMRP website.
