Ten Department of Defense Prostate Cancer Research Program Announcements are released for Fiscal Year 2005

The fiscal year 2005 (FY05) Defense Appropriations Act provides $85 million to the Department of Defense Prostate Cancer Research Program (PCRP) to support innovative research directed toward eliminating prostate cancer. This program is administered by the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command through the Office of the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP).

The PCRP has 12 different award mechanisms for FY05. The FY05 Clinical Trial Award was released in June 2004, and proposals are due by December 7, 2004. Program Announcements for the 10 award mechanisms shown in the table below are being released on December 1, 2004; six have a submission deadline of February 8, 2005, and four have a submission deadline of June 7, 2005.

A reference table that briefly summarizes each of these 10 award mechanisms and submission requirements is available at https://cdmrp.army.mil/funding/pdf/05pcrpreftable.pdf . The electronic submission process for proposals is now open for these 10 award mechanisms and must be completed by the applicant and his or her institutional contracting representative by the designated submission deadline.

A new and exciting opportunity for prostate cancer research funding will be provided through a FY05 Clinical Consortium Award, which will be described when the FY05 PCRP Program Announcement for this funding mechanism is released in January 2005.
