Changes in the Fiscal Year 2003 (FY03) Breast Cancer Research Program

  • Two important changes have been made to the Innovator Award mechanism:
    1. Consideration for this award involves a nomination process, no self-nominations will be accepted.
    2. Awards will be made for up to $5 million for 5 years.

  • Postdoctoral Awards are more competitive, and special consideration will be given to applicants seeking multidisciplinary training. Higher levels of funding are also available for FY03 Postdoctoral Awards.

  • The FY03 HBCU/MI Partnership Training Award mechanism has a higher level of funding, with a maximum of $250,000 per year for direct costs, plus indirect costs as appropriate. Additionally, the training must encompass a research project worthy of publication in a peer-reviewed journal.
