The Fiscal Year 2002 (FY02) Defense Appropriations Act provides $5 million to the Department of Defense for "Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia Research." Therefore, the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command through the Office of the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) is establishing the Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia Research Program (CMLRP). The overall goal of the CMLRP is to fund targeted research areas of scientifically meritorious research in accordance with the directives received from Congress.

Release of the FY02 CMLRP Program Announcement (PA) is anticipated for May 2002, with receipt of proposals due in September 2002.

Detailed descriptions of targeted research areas, award mechanisms, evaluation criteria, and submission requirements will be available when the FY02 CMLRP PA is released. The PA may be downloaded from the CDMRP web site (https://cdmrp.army.mil) upon its release. FY02 CMLRP proposals must be submitted electronically as PDF (Portable Document Format) files by an authorized Administrative Representative from the Sponsored Programs Office of the applicant's organization.

If you wish to be notified by electronic mail upon release of the FY02 CMLRP PA, please notify Ms. Whitehead at gail.whitehead@amedd.army.mil.
