Department of Defense Announces Awards Summary for FY98 Breast Cancer Research Program

The U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command (USAMRMC), through the Department of Defense Office of Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP), is pleased to announce the awards summary for the Fiscal Year 1998 (FY98) Breast Cancer Research Program (BCRP). The programmatic strategy for the FY98 BCRP sought to invigorate the research community by seeking solicitations for seven award mechanisms: Idea Awards, Clinical Translational Research Awards, Pre-doctoral Traineeships, Post-doctoral Traineeships, Career Development Awards, Institutional Training Grants, and Academic Awards.

These awards are intended to foster new directions toward eradicating this disease, address neglected issues, and bring new investigators into the field of breast cancer research.

From the 1,322 proposals submitted, 403 awards were made. More information about these awards as well as other CDMRP research programs and awards, including those of ovarian cancer, prostate cancer and neurofibromatosis, can be found at the CDMRP web site: https://CDMRP.HEALTH.MIL.
