Program Research Highlights

The 2009 Military Health Research Forum (MHRF), held in Kansas City Missouri from August 31 through September 3, 2009, showcased the research of investigators supported by the United States Army Medical Research and Materiel Command Peer Reviewed Medical, Gulf War Illness, and Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury Research Programs. The MHRF brought together scientists, clinicians, consumer advocates, policymakers, and the Military to learn about the research and product development advancements supported by these programs. The MHRF was designed to promote the exchange of ideas to facilitate research progress, the development of new partnerships, and the translation of research findings into field-ready methods and products. At the conference, investigators funded by the host programs, as well as other prominent scientists and clinicians presented their findings covering a broad range of diseases and conditions. These included infectious diseases, cancer, autoimmune and metabolic diseases, and addiction, as well as combat-related conditions such as trauma, shock, traumatic brain injury, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
