The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) presented the 2021 endowed Martin and Rose Wachtel Cancer Research Award in June 2021 to Dr. Triparna Sen, an Assistant Attending in the Department of Medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and a Lung Cancer Research Program (LCRP) funding recipient. In recent years, the LCRP has awarded both a Fiscal Year 2019 (FY19) Investigator-Initiated Translational Research Award and an FY20 Idea Development Award-New Investigator Option to Dr. Sen.

Each year, the AAAS presents this award to an early-career research scientist who has made significant contributions to the field of cancer research. The AAAS, founded in 1848, is the world’s preeminent general scientific society and is best known as the publisher of Science and its affiliated journals. An essay by Dr. Sen will appear in Science Translational Medicine following her anticipated lecture during the National Cancer Institute/National Institutes of Health Grand Rounds on August 6, 2021. Scheduled for 12:00pm (EDT), Dr. Sen’s virtual lecture titled, “Understanding and Targeting Small Cell Lung Cancer,” is freely available to registered attendees.

The LCRP proudly supports early-career scientists and congratulates Dr. Sen on her commendable achievement.
